Super Angie...we are all Super, aren't we?

I got this song from my mom.

Sung to the primary tune "I have two little hands"
I have two little hands and two feet and one head
I am pretty and smart and I keep myself fed.
I know I am loved, and I love others too,
And when I have time, I will learn something new.
I know I'm not perfect, of faults I have too
But I will not name them--well, neither would you.
We all need to know, at the end of the day
When push comes to shove, we're all pretty okay!

Here are some questions....answer one or all...

Question 1 What kind of a little girl were you? I was a total tom-boy. I loved doing anything my brothers did. I loved to lay in the gutter when there was water flowing down it. I was extremely happy.
Question 2 If you had two hours of completely uninterrupted time what would you do? I would do something selfish...like go Figure Skating, veg and watch Reality TV, go rock climbing or ice climbing.
Question 3 If you had $50 to spend on something foolish, how would you spend it? Oh man..I would probably buy another JUICY purse off eBay!
Question 4 Talk about one of the best days you've ever had Hmmm.... I have had so many great days. Giving birth to all three of my kids was a great day.
Question 5 If you could add one personality trait to yourself, what would it be? Why? NOT BE MOODY!! I get moody fairly easily and I hate it!!!!
Question 6 Name three things that have made you happy this last week. 1. Pushing my body hard at the comp and feeling good about what I did--even if it didn't measure up to how well others did. 2. Going to church and seeing Cathy and Callie. 3. stepping on the scale and seeing that I have lost 5 lbs.

We are all pretty dang super, aren't we? Stop thinking about all the negatives (my house isn't as clean as hers, or I am not as skinny, or my hair is lame, and start focusing on how special YOU are!

Super Angie...3rd and 5th place!

What a night. Great climbing. Awesome people. A trophy and some swag! What more could I ask for?

I saw Chris Sharma, Joe Kinder, Emily Harrington, Sasha, Alex Puccio and a bunch of other awesome climbers. The night was full of great moves.

I did qualify for speed climbing, which was awesome. I actually did better then yesterday--4 seconds faster on my first route. But the second route, which is done immediately after (so you are DEAD tired) wasn't as good. But I had a blast. We climbed in front of a HUGE crowd and everyone was screaming. It was awesome. :) I got 5th place out of 7. VERY COOL!!!

I met my climbing idol, Lisa Rands, and had my picture taken with her. :) Rick took a bunch of pictures of me with other climbers too, but I don't have them available yet, so stay tuned for more photos.

YES! It was an awesome night and fun comp. Can't wait to start training for the next one!

Super Angie...Super Champ!

Today I competed at the SCS 2008 USA Adult Nationals. SCS is Sport Climbing Series.

I competed as a recreational climber in the Citizens catagory and guess what...I PLACED 3rd!!! (So, if this were the olympics, or figure skating, I would get the bronze medal!!!). This morning I climbed two route. The first one was easy-peasy and fun. The second one...not so much. I didn't finish the second one, which is why I'm in third. Tonight, was the finals. The top ten from each catagory got to go to the finals. The route was amazing. I loved it. I almost finished it. I had a HUGE cheering section and got some really good feedback and compliments when I finished. Rick took some awesome pictures and I will probably get those up on Sunday. After the finals, there was the SPEED CLIMBING COMPETITION! This is so much fun. There are two 45 foot long routes, and you basicly are timed to see how fast you can climb them. The first girl to go was a pro and she did it in 9 seconds! CRAZY! I did mine in 30 seconds. Yes, its not the best score, but who cares. I had a blast and again, a great cheering section, which just made things more fun. :)

Now, here is the really crazy part--- By some miracle, I made it into the speed climbing FINALS! Those are tomorrow (Saturday) night. YEA!!!!!!

Wow...what a rush. I love this sport, I love competing and my blinged up shoes got so much attention--I love my shoes!

Super Angie...ice ice baby

I found my new sport.

So, everyone knows I love Ice. I figure skate, I have done luge before (LOVE IT!!!!) and now Ice Climbing. What a total blast!

We climbed PIPE DREAM in Provo, Canyon. Rick did awesome by leading the TRAD route and then I followed and cleaned it. I had never lead-belay before, so that was fun to learn. It was also awesome to clean the protection--ice screws are so cool.

We woke up this morning to 6 inches of snow, and it was STILL snowing. Should we go? SURE! So, once Whitney showed up (THANKS DOLL!!!), we took off and headed up Provo Canyon to Canyon View Park. We parked, geared up and started walking on the sidewalk/trail that goes up Provo Canyon. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Snow was just dumping on us(there was 4 inches of fresh snow on our car when we got back!). It was fabulous.

We saw some wild turkeys and then a deer started chasing one of them. So funny.

We made it to the waterfall and Rick taught me how to put my crampons on. Then I did some "bouldering". Thats when you climb up as high as you feel comfortable without a rope. I went up about 6 feet. I was HOOKED!! Ice climbing is more comfortable for me then rock climbing outside. In the gym, rock climbing is second nature to me, but outside, its so confusing--I never know where to put my feet. In ice climbing, you just jam the front tips of your crampons in the ice and if they don't stay, then you try again. Easy! I quickly learned that my left arm is very weak compared to my right and I am just not very co-ordinated with it.

Rick then placed some ice screws and climbed up to the top of the water fall and hooked up an nice ancoring system. Then it was MY turn.

I started climbing and was just having a great time. I got to the first ice screw, started taking it out and cleaning the gear, when I dropped my left ice tool! OOPS! lol lol lol So, Rick lowered me back down, I grabbed my tool and climbed again. I felt fantastic. The last 10 feet was harder because my left arm just wasn't working and I was having a hard time swinging my tool in.

It was so incredible to be climbing a water fall! So beautiful. I loved hearing the water under the ice trickling down. Just amazing.

I can't wait to go again!

PS...check out Rick's blog--he put up some photos and stuff too. :)

Super Angie...moose tracks

We got up bright and early this morning to go Ice Climbing. Whitney came at 7 and we left her with the kids. THANKS WHIT! We drove up past Sundance Ski Resort and Aspen Grove, to the trail head parking lot for Mt. Timponogos. The parking lot was full of tents of boy scouts who spent the night--probably passing off some winter camping merit badge. It was hillarious. They had built fires right in the parking lot and were cooking and keeping warm. So funny.

We gathered up our stuff and started stomping through the snow up to "the second waterfall". At first, the trail was packed down by snowmobiles, so it was easy going. Then it got HARD. We followed some moose tracks, stepped up over poop and pee and unfortuantly, finally made it out into the fresher snow that hadn't been packed down. We both sank up to our knees with each step. We had a deadline and had to be back home by 12:30. At the rate we were going and with conditions not too favorable, we turned around and counted it as a nice workout.

On the drive home, we drove past a moose, walking through the forest at the side of the road, near Sundance. Amazing and exciting to see!!

While driving home, talking about what could have been, we spotted close to 50 ice climbers doing Bridal Vail Falls, so we stopped to watch them. We didn't have enough time to join them, but it was great to watch!! Further down the canyon, we stopped at Canyon View Park. We had heard about a water fall coming from the Pipeline, so we stopped to have a look. Thats when we noticed 4 guys ready with all their ice picks. We stopped to talk to them. Turns out, its sidewalk the whole way to the waterfall, so its VERY VERY easy to get to (no sinking to our knees!!). We got their contact info and planned to meet them again. Luckily, Whitney is so SWEET that she is gonna come on Monday at 7am to watch the kids, so we can go try this new waterfall. YEA!!!!

So, even though we didn't get to climb today, we had a great morning. Now I'm gonna take the kids to Kangaroo Zoo!!!

Super Angie...Target sucks

I bought a belt at my local American Fork, UT Target. I bought the belt two weeks ago. It snapped in half the 4th time I wore it. I don't have a receipt for it, but have never had a problem returning to Target, so I went in there today.

Apparently returns aren't so easy anymore. Even though I went to the belt department, found THE EXACT SAME BELT as mine (which proves that my belt came from the store), they seemed to have some problem giving me a refund. So I left, with my broken belt.

Not a happy camper. Guess I won't buy belts at Target anymore. ARGH!

--Super Unhappy Shopper Angie (just like Paris Hilton...she looks unhappy while shopping too!) LOL

Super Angie...back on track

We went climbing last night and we ROCKED! I pushed myself. Did a super crazy 5.8 where you have to stem most of it. Very fun and difficult. Then I did two 5.10s (one a D!!!). I finished the evening doing a purple 5.9 on the corner. I love the challenge of corner routes. It was awesome and I really pushed my body.

Bad news...this morning, my body is still feeling pushed and I just feel like crap.

But at least I got my climb on last night. :)

Super Angie... rock rock baby

Last night, Rick and I went rock climbing for the first time in about 2 months. We were greeted sweetly by all our friends at the gym, which was fun. I did a 5.7, 5.8, and a 5.9!! Rick did two 5.7s and a V0! AWESOME! We are going again tonight and I am gonna push myself to do 5.9s and 5.10s...gotta get my climb on!

Yesterday, Dallin had BASE CAMP (rock climbing class) at the gym. Brennan wanted to climb at the same time, so I belayed him. He wore his King costume. Joe Kinder was there climbing. Brennan has a poster of Joe, autographed, and he thinks Joe is so cool. So Brennan went to say HI to Joe and Joe said, "Nice costume Buddy!" and Brennan said, "I'm the king of rock climbing". Joe and his friends started cracking up. "You're the king of rock climbing? Thats so cool!" --Joe said. Then Brennan made us all laugh when he said, "You can climb anywhere you want"--like he was granting us permission! What a gracious king!

Super Angie...getting motivated

Tonight, we made the decision to renew my season's pass for skiing in Colorado. They have this amazing deal where you buy one pass and its good at Keystone, A-Basin, and Breckenridge, PLUS you get 10 days at Vail and Beaver Creek. This is incredible because its HALF the price of a season's pass to Snowbird!!! So, now, I get to ski when we go to Colorado. Rick and I will work it out and take turns (I ski first thing in the morning, he skis in the afternoon etc).

Only 6 1/2 months until I climb Mt. Rainer.

Along with this skiing, I will go ice skating each day I am in Colorado (skating is my special reward for doing good in other areas of my workout schedule!). Back in Utah, its the treadmill two-three times a week, weights 3 times a week, and rock climbing 2-4 times a week. Add a few hikes and snow shoeing adventures and I am sure I will be in shape for Rainer. Oh yeah...gotta learn some ice climbing too.

Thanks baby for buying me this season's pass. I am excited to ski at 12,000 feet.

Super Angie...loads of fun

Here are some random, fun pictures from the past few weeks

Brennan and Grandma stringing beads on a shoelace.
Me celebrating on my birthday--I got a cute new chalk bag for climbing!
LOOK CLOSE AT THIS PHOTO!
Rick found this in a campground bathroom down near Moab. I love the fact the Smokey's name has been changed. Click on the picture to see it up close!!

Dallin loves snow-shoeing in the backyard. Brennan too, but we don't have a picture of him yet.
Tickle Tickle. Tan really fell in love with Grandma (gaga). And Grandma fell in love with Tan!

Me--trying to be "cool" in my new coat. Rick gave it to me for my birthday.

Super Angie...resolutions

Just wondering what my friends are doing about New Years Resolutions.

To make Super Angie even MORE super, I am still working on finishing my weightloss goals. Only 11 lbs left to go to my final goal. YEA!

I am also working on not yelling and controling my emotions. Way too moody in 2007. Ugh!

What about you? What will make YOU Super in 2008?

Super Angie...all about Brennan

Recently Brennan has done or said a few cute things that I had to journal about...

--While cuddling with me, he touched the mole on my cheek and said, "I like your pretty bump on your face". and then, "It feels like hair"--oh gosh, guess its time to pluck again?

--I was wearing a very girly brown and pink polka-dot shirt. Brennan said, "I like your shirt. Someday, I can wear it?"

--My mom was showing us photos from Christmas with my brother in Seattle. She showed him a picture of Enzo, my brother's dog. "Enzo is excited to open the gift you gave him, Brennan",my mom said. While examining the photo, Brennan said, "Did he see his name written on the tag?"

Ah...my Brennan...sometimes, in extreme frustration over his behavior, I offer him for sale to the random poor person standing in line at Target behind me, and other times, he just gushes over with love and affection and I can't help but hug and cuddle him. But through it all, he is always loved.

--Super Angie

PS...after I wrote all this, we were riding in the car with my mom and I called Brennan, "My big bear" (which is my cozy name for him). He said, "What do you call Gaga (grandma)? I know! Big Tiger. Wait. Big OLD tiger!"

Super Angie...barfing up a storm

My house was the sick house on the block this weekend. Tan was throwing up and having Diarrhea on Friday and Saturday. Then Sunday, I came home from church, changed clothes and threw up. Very strange. I had stomach cramps the whole day and evening. Then in the middle of the night, Rick started having a stomach bug too, and Brennan was up every 20 minutes for 2 hours straight with Diarrhea. Loads of fun. Turns out my mom was sick too and throwing up.

So much for all my fun plans this week. :(

Super Angie...fun late Christms gift

Last night, Whitney babysat for us. The kids adore her and were anxious for us to leave so they could have her to themselves. Before we could leave, she gave us our be-lated Christmas gift...a photo book of some of our doings in 2007. She downloaded photos from my blog and then made one of those nice hardbound photo books from Photoworks. We were so surprised and just love it!

THANKS WHIT! Its a fabulous gift!!!
