Super Angie...I Lead!!!

"To Lead" is a term in rock climbing that refers to leading the rope up to the top of the climb, rather then having the rope at the top already (top rope). Top Rope is the type of climbing I do in the gym. But Yesterday, for the first time, I lead outside!!! When you lead, you have to clip the rope into bolts on the rock. You use a carabiner for this. Its scary because if you fall, you fall harder and further then if you are on top rope.

Last night, we went to RED ROCK as a family. The hike up to it was really nice and Tanith enjoyed being in the baby backpack.

I lead a 5.6 :) :) :) Then I set up a top rope for the kids

Dallin climbed half way up it. WAY TO GO!! Dallin did so well, despite being so scared.
Tanith ran around, getting dirty and throwing up.
Brennan sent it and actually "cleaned" the route. WAY TO GO! Brennan has a natural ability to climb. He is just awesome at it and has outstanding technique considering how young he is.
Rick played belay slave.
Then I lead a 5.7. .... I am so addicted now. It was awesome and I'm so proud of myself! Can't wait to go climbing outside again!!!

Super Angie...whats 4pm good for?

Its almost 4pm...and I am in desperate need of Chocolate! Its now been 2 weeks since I gave up candy and "sweets". And I am finding my cravings are mostly gone, except right around 4pm...

Think I'll go drink some hot chocolate, even though its 70 degrees out. CHOCOLATE and 4pm...I think its a curse!

So, whats your favorite candy or sweet or indulgence? I have too many to name...but right now, I'd love a cupcake, or an Almond Joy, or a Recess Peanutbutter Cup...

Super Angie... Way to go Brennan!

Brennan has been taking ice skating lessons the past month and we enjoy skating together after his lessons. Yesterday was his last day, and he passed the class. He is so proud of his Snowplow Sam Level 1 patch he was awarded. He was beaming the whole way home from the rink, talking non-stop about it.

Brennan I am proud of you for learning all the skills and doing your very best. You worked hard and had a great attitude the whole time. I love you!

Super Angie...Thriller

I was watching The Today Show today and they were talking about this being the 25th anniversary of Thriller (isn't that so strange? Seems like yesterday!). Anyway, they had some dancers on, including a guy who was an original dancer in the music video. Very cool. So he taught the hosts how to do some of the moves.

I showed Brennan the dance and got him to do it with me. So fun. He thought the "dead people" were really cool.

Hey Tara, Emily, Liisa, Kathleen, Ginger and Heidi (and Mike and Chip, if you read my blog), remember our Thriller dance from Jr. High?

Super Angie... mommy/ son outting

Last night, Dallin and I went on a "date". We had so much fun. We saw the movie, Spiderwick Cronicles. I wasn't so sure I'd like it, but I actually did, and seeing it with Dallin was most enjoyable. He really got into it.

One thing I found interesting was that things that scared me, didn't phase him at all, because of his innocence. For example: They hear noises inside the walls. I was scared, because after seeing too many adult movies, or CSI type of shows, I JUST KNOW there is a bad dude inside the walls, ready to jump out and kill me. But of course, Dallin hasn't been exposed to those types of shows, so he is just curious as to whats making the sound. He is so much braver then I!

Popcorn, rootbeer... yum. And he also enjoyed Whoopers and Starbursts. No candy for me though...almost to day 14 of no candy!!! :) I ROCK! (its turned out to be no candy, sweets and such)

Love my son!

Super Angie...climbing star?

Rick and I were honored to be asked to come to the gym early this morning to participate in a photo shoot with big time photographer, Chris Nobel. He was rigged in, way above the lead wall, and took photos from some interesting angles. We haven't seen the photos, nor do I know if we ever will, but his angles were really cool. He also took some pictures looking up from the ground of us climbing. Lastly, he took pictures of Brennan climbing. Brennan was so dang cute. He hammed it up and posed. Chris commented that Brennan climbs fast and is gonna give Joe Kinder a run for his money! :)

Loads of fun!

PS... one funny thing: Chris recognized me from the speed climbing comp! LOL I'm famous!!!

PPS...my SUPER awesome cool friend Tara gave me this award. She is so incredible. You should check out her stamping page here. I mean, seriously, she is soooo talented!! Not only is she talented, but she is down to earth, a good friend, a great mom and a fun person. Thanks T!
Now...I pass this award unto:
Shannon, because I think she is an amazing mom--running here and there, and still has time for good friendships.
Sarah, because she is an amazing climber, mom, and friend. I know that Sarah is always there for me...even though we now live far apart. Love ya!
and...
Rick...because he is my husband, best friend and belay partner... He is always there for me and I love the magic we have together. We help each other through all the problems that come our way.

Super Angie...lions, tigers and A BEAR!

Okay, so there were no lions and tigers, but there was a bear.

We were driving out to Colorado, just barely started driving through Spanish Fork Canyon, when I started looking on the hill sides for deer and elk. Usually we see hundreds through the canyon. BINGO! I spot something. I start pointing it out to the kids, when I notice, its not a deer, not an elk...ITS A BEAR!!! HOLY CRAP! SO AWESOME.

Rick flips a u-turn (and we almost died doing so) and he raced back to the spot. We turned off into the gravel along with another car. Rick and I get out (tell the kids to stay in the car) and we and the other couple walk down. The other guy has a big camera (so does Rick, but his battery is dead!!!)--he promises to email us photos! So Nice! Luckily, I had my camera, so these are the shots I got.

Anyway, we watched the bear walk up the hill a bit, and then down into a pond to drink. So amazing. It was a black bear (the only type they have in Utah...even though it was brown in color). It was so peaceful to watch a creature like this in nature.

Simply amazing.

Later, we decided NOT to go to Colorado, because driving for only 2 hours with Tanith screaming the whole trip was not fun, and we didn't want to drive another 5 hours with her still screaming, so we turned around and came home. Oh well... at least we saw the bear!

Super Angie...another pirate tooth

While in Colorado, Dallin lost pirate tooth the 3rd. The tooth fairy came with one dollar bill and 4 quarters.  Dallin is very excited and was thrilled to call Grandma and tell her all about it.

Super Angie....blue skies and lots of skis

What a beautiful spring day it is here in Keystone. The sky is a radiant color of blue, with a few puffy clouds. I walked to the village at the lake this morning to get hot chocolate. There were canadian geese dancing on the frozen, snow covered water. It was actually quite warm. Later, which Tanith was napping, I did some pilates...felt great.

Rick took to the slopes and had a blast. He discovered some new runs he hadn't skiied before. He rocked them! Way to go baby! I am so proud of you. The kids and I met him in the village. The boys played on the buffelo statue while some twenty something guys from Thailand took photos of them. Tanith ran around, enjoying the sunshine and melting snow and ice--it tastes good. Then it was my turn to hit the slop
es and I too had an enjoyable time.

We are now enjoying some Lebkuchen (German cookies), pizza and some good family love. We dog-piled Dad which, of course is always delightful.

I love my family and this was a great way to spend the last ski day of the season.

not 10 minutes after talking about how lovely everything has been, Brennan got his gum stuck in his hair. Brennan doesn't have much hair, so cutting the gum out was very hard. Sadly, he now has many bald spots. :(

Super Angie...the never ending road trip

We finally made it to Keystone after TWO days of travel. usually it only takes us 6-7 hours to drive here from Utah, but we got to Vail and found the pass was closed. We waited for 4-5 hours and it did not open, so we drove all the way back to Glenwood Springs to spend the night. This actually turned out fun...our motel had an awesome swimming pool, complete with Zeroentry, two slides and a water fall thingy. It was fabulous. Then, on the way to Keystone, we took a detour through Eagle to the Costco, where we stocked up on good food for our condo and enjoyed the free samples.

Spring break has officially started now. I already made a fire in the fireplace and took a nice long nap. We cooked a "real" dinner Rick and I look forward to the hot tub in a few hours.

Sidenote: my friend Meg told me she gave up Candy about a year and a half ago because she wanted to prove that she could give up an addiction. I have decided to do this too...yesterday was my last candy day. I am looking forward to cleansing my body during this stay in Keystone.

ITS SNOWING!!!!!

So glad that drive is over with!

Super Angie...active males in the Miske household

Over the weekend, the boys went on a Father/Son outing to Moab--just Rick, Dallin and Brennan. Everyone had a wonderful time. They did some off-roading, hiking and rock climbing. Dallin and Brennan raved about how "Dad knows everything" and how many animals they saw. Rick enjoyed teaching them and helping them. They went to Gemini Bridges and actually walked across it a few times! Amazing.

Super Angie...changes

We have a big event coming up and some changes to our family, so I felt the need to do a bit of sorting, organizing and "getting rid of". Dallin's school will have a garage sale in late May, so the timing is perfect...I can sort, organize and make my garage sale pile.

This morning, I spent about an hour, and got Tanith's room SPICK AND SPAM. Her closet, for the last several months, had become the dumping ground for any peice of clothing she had outgrown. Today, I boxed them all up, went through her room and found tons of stuff to garage sale, or store in boxes. I also found an old bottle (YUCK) that had fallen behind her crib.

Now I am debating..is that enough sorting for the day, or should I tackle the boy's room? YIKES! Thats a scary thought.

Super Angie...lots happening

Brennan is taking ice skating lessons. We have so much fun at his lessons because after the lesson, the kids get 15 minutes of open ice practice time. They allow parents to come and skate too, so, Brennan and I just have a blast! We pretend we are flying to mars as we skate to different areas of the rink. He REALLY loves the sport. :)
Dallin is taking Swim lessons right now. He is doing fantastic. I am impressed with how fast he is improving. He can now float on his back well, and swim underwater. I am so thrilled!
Also this week, Brennan celebrated UGLY day at school. He loved picking out his ugly clothes and making ugly faces. Here he is showing me an "ugly" face. We had fun all day saying, "Brennan, you sure are UGLY!" He would beam afterwards!
Dallin lost yet, another tooth. This one is "Pirate Tooth the Second!". The tooth fairy came and brought him 3 bucks!! I'm telling you, these kids are so darn lucky! (He DID NOT want his new toothless smile photographed...little stinker!)

Super Angie...a strong mama

After running some errands this morning, Brennan asked, "Are you gonna exercise when we get home?" --usually I walk on the treadmill while Tanith naps and Brennan watched some shows.

I answered, "I don't think I will today"

Brennan-- " Mama! You need to exercise so you can be strong!"

So, with a little push from my 4 yr old, I worked out.

What do YOUR kids push you to do?
