Super Angie... Super day!

What a beautiful day we had today and yesterday.
2 days ago Todd drove up, did some skating with us for a little bit in the evening, had dinner and then spent the night at our house so that yesterday morning, him and Rick could  get up bright and early and go climb 1 of the 14,ners near our house.
It was a very very cold morning.. we're talking negative temperatures. around noon the kids and I headed to the lake and enjoyed skating on it. it was beautiful and it hAD warmed up. Mackenzie from Breckenridge came and joined me on the lake. it was so great to see her! I also met a Show skater who helped me learn a new sideways spin.

When Rick and Todd got home we headed to Breckenridge and had a lovely dinner- I have a cheeseburger.

we stayed up way too late chatting with Todd about mountains and skating and everything in between.

this morning we said goodbye to Todd. then we headed to the lake for yet another beautiful time skating.

we've had such a lovely winter break I'm really going to miss Keystone when we have to leave.

Super Angie... Going mobile!

So, here I am, on the couch, listening to a cracking fire, while blogging my phone. Woot! I will for sure get more blogging done now. :)

Christmas break had been awesome. We have gone sledding, skating, short hike, painting, gondola ride, skating Some More! I've work w Todd Gilles on choreography, which has been awesome. We have done all our work on the lake. Rick and Todd have gone ice climbing, hiked quandary and today they plan to hike another 14ner.

My dad had been here a few days, which has been so nice. We had a lovely time opening gifts and sharing laughs.

It's been very cold. -7 with a real feel of - 34!
But of  course, I love it!

I've met lots of new friends at the lake. And I've found my love of skating again. I cherish every second on the lake because I know it will soon end. It just feels so great to be active again, running programs, and having fun. I love just playing on the ice, looking at my edges, being expressive. And my new artistic program is unique, and beautiful. Wish I could skate full timer with Todd.

Brennan has been more cuddly. Dallin and tan too. Rick and I have had lots of quality time.

It's been a wonderful time.

Super Angie...my birthday

Today is my 37th birthday and I feel such a change. A difference in attitude. A difference in gratitude. A difference in love and peace and contentment.

Got this fun tank top from my old coach Kellyn. Love her designs! :) :)

Life is feeling so good right now. I'm slowing down, enjoying things more. Noticing the small things. Doing more service for others. Reading my scriptures more. Having more meaningful family prayer and devotionals. I'm reaching out to others and opening up more. Life just feels good! :)

Super Angie.. 12.12.12

Yesterday, on 12 12 12, our family went to the temple and was sealed. More pictures to come later.

The weather was cold- 40s. Cloudy. Windy.

27 dear friends and family came to the sealing room.

The spirit was strong.

We are a forever family.

Rick and I are simply meant to be. We love each other more and more each day. And more then we ever loved anyone else. We compliment each other and are raising a strong family.

Our day was perfect.

I have a family here on earth.
They are so good to me.
I want to share my life with them through all eternity.
Families can be together, forever, through Heavenly Father's plan.
I always want to be with my own family, and the Lord has shown me how I can...
The Lord has shown me how I can.

Super Angie...Dallin turns 12!

I can not believe that 12 years ago, this precious boy was born. He is such a joy. I am so proud to be his mom. People tell me all the time how good he is. What a nice kid he is. He has read the book of Mormon, all on his own. He loves scouts. He loves the trombone. He works hard in school. He is nice to all- even the bullies. He helps around the house. He babysits. He does his chores without a fight. He is just an over all joy. I LOVE YOU DALLIN! Happy Birthday!

Super Angie...far behind

I am so far behind on my blogging. Its been several weeks. Here are the highlights:

Thanksgiving Party in Kindergarten.
Drove to Glenwood Springs- stayed in our favorite hotel. Kids love that water slide!
Celebrated Tanith's birthday a few times- had a party with a few little friends, celebrated the monday before her birthday at home with all her gifts- and celebrated in Colorado by eating at Knosha Steak House in Breck.
Thanksgiving in Keystone- painted ceramics, many walks to the lake, walk up keystone gulch, Thanksgiving afternoon hike to Lucy's grave. Attempt to take family picture.
Rick flew to Argentina
Had lesson with Todd Gilles
We got our date for being Sealed in the LDS Temple- 12-12-12. We are so excited.
Bought a wedding dress.
Bought Tanith a wedding dress.
Bought decorations and arranged flowers and cake and all sorts of fun for the reception.

We have been incredibly blessed. We have struggled but I have seen such blessings. I am back to skating and LOVING it. I don't skate long or hard, but its enough for me. And I take Tanith with me and she LOVES it. I really enjoy spending that time with her and its good exercise for her.
Brennan and Tanith are still going to gymnastics. They are both progressing nicely> Tanith is now in level 3. Brennan is almost ready to move out of level 1.

I'm ready for Rick to return from Argentina.

Super Angie...the letter

I just received the following letter...

To Angie Waibel . My very best wishes on your upcoming training and competing. I know the physical struggles that you are dealing with and I am so inspired by how you give so much to figure skating. THIS is a part that I love about my sport. I may be old and my body broken, but I don't think that that feeling you get when your blades hit the ice, the sound, or even the smell of the ice ever leave your heart. I am unable to compete and at times I miss it. However, seeing my little girl feel the same love and see her spirit lifted by it really moves me and it is enough. Hearing what you go through daily to come back to what you love is also very moving to me and you have become a wonderful role model and inspiration for Lillian. She remembers watching you at Skate for Hope and out of every group and skater there, she remembers liking to watch you. Of course she loves the Olympic and National stars and spending time in a show with them, but she also sees you as a big star in and I want to wish you our heartfelt best. We'll be watching and cheering you on. Shine on! Keep going and my little star is hoping big things for you

Super Angie...no big rush

I had an incredible lesson yesterday with Genia. I really enjoy working with her. She humors me, compliments, corrects, makes me do stuff again and really teaches. I have learned so much and she is happy to see how much progress I've already made.

Having a back injury is forcing me to slow down, not rush things. Something Genia mentioned time and time again in my lesson. Slow down on that three turn. Don't rush that. SLOW DOWN!  Its not just my coach that is saying this, but also my body. And both are taking to my mind and body.

I am finding great peace in my life when I slow down other parts as well. Scripture study--slow down, think, ponder. While driving- turn off the music. Or change the music. Something different. I'm attending the temple and feeling great peace there- quiet. Shhh...peaceful, slowdown.

This injury has also helped me slow down my skating- and not focus on getting bigger and better skills. I am at peace with the statement "I will not jump above a lutz". I actually feel so FREE saying that. My coach is really happy too. She keeps saying "There is nothing wrong with that!" and she understand that we are all human and we need to watch our bodies.

I am still doing PT, Massage and Chiropractic. I'm seeing big changes. I'm seeing new strength. There are set backs but the best thing is, you stop, and look back to see how far you've come. I've come A LONG WAYS since July!

No need to rush.

Joy in the Journey.

Super Angie...Mt Elbrus

I am so proud of Charles and his recent attempt at climbing Mt. Elbrus- the highest peak in Europe and one of the Seven Summits.  He recently wrote a short travel journal about his journey.

My review: Charles's struggles aren't just something mountaineers are familiar with. This book is about trying something, training for it, getting excited for it and then failing. AND THEN moving forward, realizing that Failure doesn't mean the End...its just a different path.

I loved my time spent in Russia in 2010 trying to climb the same mountain. Its a beautiful region with interesting people and incredible peaks.

As with most things in life, mistakes happen, failures happen. But its not the falling down that is shameful. You get up, you dust yourself off and you keep going. I'm very proud of Charles for this and I encourage all to download the book. Take an adventure to a far off region and climb your own Mt. Elbrus.

Super Angie... 6 road signs

President Thomas S Monson said:

May I offer to you tonight six road signs which, when observed and followed, will guide you to safety. They are:

1. Choose good friends. Friends help to determine your future. You will tend to be like them and to be found where they choose to go. Remember, the path we follow in this life leads to the path we follow in the next.

2. Seek parental guidance. Your mother, your father, your family all love you and pray for your eternal happiness. Fathers, be an example to your sons. Show them the way to go. Walk with them in righteousness and faith.

3. Study the gospel. Develop a yearning to know the Lord, to understand His commandments and to follow Him. Then shadows of despair are dispelled by rays of hope, sorrow yields to joy, and the feeling of being lost in the crowd of life vanishes with the certain knowledge that our Heavenly Father is mindful of each of us.

4. Obey the commandments. Make up your mind to serve God. Learn His word and follow it. President George Albert Smith, the eighth President of the Church, counseled: "Stay on the Lord’s side of the line."

5. Serve with love. Jesus was the epitome of service. It was said of Him that He "went about doing good." Do we do likewise? Our opportunities are many, but some are perishable and fleeting. Brethren, what supernal joy you feel when someone recalls counsel you gave, an example you lived, a truth you taught, the influence you had in prompting another to do good.

6. Pray with purpose. Prayer is the provider of spiritual strength. Prayer is the passport to peace. Should we find ourselves in harm’s way, our power line is unbroken and undamaged—even to God, our Heavenly Father. He will help us if we will but give Him in our lives an opportunity to do so.

Super Angie...turning a new page

I am feeling "back to normal" now. My injury is healing. The weight is coming off. I feel more "in charge" and completely full of power and gratitude. I have picked new music for this season. I'm really excited about these two pieces. One of them was suggested by a friend. Her son does gymnastics at the same time as Tanith. She came to Sectionals last year and was blown away by my skating. This means so much because she is a professional ballerina and is now a teacher at a Ballet school. She told me she loved my arms and hands. I was shocked as I had been told a year earlier that my hands and arms were awful when I skated.

Anyway, Chelsea suggested I skate to Gabrielle's Oboe. I listed to it and fell in love. Now I'm talking with Kellyn about a possible costume skating dress. I'm excited.

Life does throw curve balls at all of us. Life stinks some times. BUT there are always silver linings. The tricks it to find those silver linings and focus on that, instead.

Now I'm walking on Sunshine!
