Last Friday I have the opportunity to compete at the Vail Invitational. I was very excited about this competition because I had a new friend Amy who I would be competing with there and also some of my favorite senior skaters we're going to be competing. So cool! I decided I wanted to compete my Elvis program. I only found out I was doing this competition a week before so I worked hard for that week and trained my Elvis program. Todd couldn't come to the competition because he had a full day
in Colorado Springs coaching so his sister, Alexe, came. This was so fun for me because I am a big fan of his sister. And she was actually going to be competing that night so is really cool. my dad was in town but Rick was gone, so my dad came and brought the kids. so did Sarah Cook from church. it was so fun having so many people in the audience and they threw a lot of tossies.
I skated pretty good. my main goal for this competition was to actually do my camel spin. I didn't do it the best ive done it but I did it! I did two revolutions. All of my jobs for solid except that I did kinda rush the landings but overall I'm very pleased with the way I skated and I walked away with the silver medal. so exciting.
But the big news of the event happened during the warm up. I was doing back crossovers and one of my competitors Jose was also doing back cross overs and we collided. I was going full speed and I hit him hard. we both fell over. we laughed hug to make sure everybody was feeling okay. the other competitors came over and helped us up. and everything seemed OK except that I almost immediately had a bad headache. I finished my warm up and then got off the ice. I still have that headache but I wouldn't competed about 2 hours later I realized I was feeling kind of loopy and unfocused so I called Dr John my faithful chiropractor in Breckenridge. he had me come in and he told me that I had a minor concussion. So now I am recovering.
