On Saturday, we met up with Nate from the gym and his friend John. Wow! What wonderful people they are and we are thrilled to have found a great group to dry tool and ice climb with. This season is gonna rock. Its so nice to find climbing partners that don't have an ego, and yet are so experienced. There is no macho attitudes involved. Its wonderful!
Nate is the most positive person I have ever met. He said his life mission is "to improve other people's life". He has no ego about his 14 yrs of climbing. No ego about his time spent on the US Water Polo team. No ego about some of the 8,000 meter mountains he has climbed. He just simply has no ego.
Rick took a turn on the 5.10...probably an M 7
Nate took some amazing pictures of Rick while I belayed. Simply AWESOME!

We had such a great morning. Its so nice to find Nate and John. We look forwarding to going to Ouray this winter to climb and then climbing locally all over Utah. YEA FOR WINTER!

You guys are incredible. looks like lots of fun. I am jealous. One day I will be able to climb again. Well probably not ice climb cuz that scares me :)
Ironically, this is rock climbing. Just with tools. The neat thing is it allows you to carefully take very small holds you couldn't take with your fingers or toes. But you can't move once you place them. If you move your arm or leg even 1/8" you'll pop off (like I did a dozen or so times on the 5.10a). It requires a very stable core - so I need to work on that!
I still think you're crazy, but I'm glad you love it!
