Super Angie...Zion day 2 continued...narrows hike

After a picnic lunch, we set off on another hike...this one along the Virgin river in the direction of the narrows hike. We didn't take the whole hike through the river and narrows, but we did go about 1 mile, which with three small kids, was a big deal.

The kids found a friendly Caterpillar and named him HIKEY. He traveled with us for a while as the boys sang a song about HIKEY. FULL VOLUME! It was really cute and had many hikers laughing.

We passed by many boulders where to kids did their best to climb. Tanith even got into the action of bouldering. They actually did very well and we were proud parents.

The squirrels were crazy along the hike. They seriously have NO FEAR and will come dangerously close to your stuff.

Once at the end of the hike, we let the boys play in the river and then we head back, this time with Rick carrying the very tired Tan.

Once we were back at the trail head, we saw two deer grazing. Its so amazing how these animals have no fear of humans. The first night, we saw a dozen dear just outside our cabin. They weren't scared of us at all, and Rick was able to get 5 feet away! These deer at the trail head were the same. It was so fun to just watch them so closely. I did have to remind the boys though that some people have never seen deer, so to them its extra exciting and we shouldn't belittle that excitement. Not everyone has deer poop in their yard like we do! lol

Hikey! The caterpillar that Dallin left on the log in the swamp, then checked on while returning to the trailhead. Hike, Hike, Hike-hike-hike-hike Hike! the boys chanted up the first part of the trail.
